YR2021 Dog breaks that bone
[Broadcast On: 30/01/2022]

Friends, as I am reviewing our long discussions on detention slavery last year, thinking about what a tremendous year that has been? When I embarked on this conversation in Feb 2021, as you all know, an unprecedented military coup has taken over in Burma. I, for one, most of the time since 1992 have been a "self-appointed" exiled democracy supporter to Burma. I did have to make a conscious choice as to whether to continue working on this Australian slavery case or give my voice and time to democracy causes in Burma. In the end, I decided to continue working on Australian slavery case, which I believed to be "once in a century" incidence of humanitarian crime.

DOG WITH THE BONE

On the early days in 2018-19, I was able to engage with ordinary Australians about this particular subject. At this time, I can admit I have serious suspicion of Commonwealth Government perpetrating slavery crime; but no definitive proof that I have had. Most ordinary Australians are sceptical, and advise me to drop off that cause. Some are quite curious as to why? Why should I be doing this kind of investigation; What motivates me? Revenge? Personal grudges against LNP or politicians? or Some even accused me of being "delusional". Asked, do you know what your want? or What do you get for yourself out from this? All sort of questions and arguments I have had.

Perhaps, most ordinary Australian have, sort of, see hear and there "activists"; Without knowing much about what really motivates a "genuine" activist. In the end, I really had to explain them myself "a dog with the bone" scenario. As you know, a dog never gives up its bone. May be a dog's instinct; chews and chews, day after days, sleeps with it, never tire of it, with none that tangible outcomes will there be for its own-self.

But hardly ever a dog could break that bone. None the less, my friends, when we think of the investigation on slavery or the government scandal or cover-ups, have we ever had any definitive proof of a government doing wrong ? Last years finding on Faysal and Samuel has been definite proof the Commonwealth Government and Detention Companies had perpetrated slavery crime. I would say, the dog has break that bone now.

WHAT IT IS IN FOR OUR ASYLUM-SEEKERS

Although I have proven there's the slavery crime, I certainly do not have the "Power" to enforce perpetrators getting what they deserve -- i.e. jail terms. I can raise matters, as an observer (or witness), to the Australian Federal Police; but trust me, they will have me played around, dragging their feet, taking no proper action. Undaunted, I shall be raising this matter to UN, ICC and International Community too. I am at present communicating this investigative outcomes to activist groups and individuals whom I can get contact with the emails.

So who actually have "The Power" to bring those perpetrators to justice ? I would say in first instance, under the common laws, the asylum-seekers who are the victims and primary stake holders do have the power to do that. Some might even think this is quite preposterous, given most medevaced asylum-seekers are now on Bridging Visa E, and anxious even where the next meal would have to come for them. But, even I say so now to our brother/sister offshore asylum-seekers, be humble about having this "Power". Do take time to prepare; talk with your professional lawyers; obtain your own FOI documents from Department; know your "own story"; reflect what you have had actually gone through over the years. For you, the time for justice must have to come.

BENEVOLENT ARMS TRADER

For my part, I shall be releasing all my relevant findings under "Creative Common Open License 4.0 International". Any professional lawyers or case workers or anyone in the public can "use freely" of those findings. Do consider this as the "gift of knowledge" for our asylum-seekers. Do think of me as a "benevolent arms trader", who gives freely to those underdogs who're fighting for a just cause. The fights, the win and the glory will all be yours!

As for further work, I do like to look into the cases of delay on offshore psychiatric patients. To this, the cases of Hamid Shamshripour and Fariborz Karimi certainly come to my mind. I think majority of medevacted asylum-seekers here are on psychiatric illness. Let's see how we go with things over first half year of 2022.

Keep checking on this website and enhancements. -- Cheers, NetIPR.

Don Quixote, man of la mancha

Before the Senate Committee in 2002 , said I, "Mr Chairman and committee members, you no doubt find it disturbing when you hear about the behavior of human smugglers. You are disturbed when human smugglers exploit refugees and asylum seekers. Your are distressed when human smugglers make money out of these vulnerable people. You feel outraged when human smugglers show callous disrespect for the well being of their human cargo. You find human smugglers despicable because they make a profit out of vulnerable people, such as refugees. Now, here in this parliament, your very own government is using refugees and asylum seekers as pawns in its political agenda. The government exploited refugees and border protection issues to win the election. The government shows callous disregard for the lives of asylum seekers by intercepting and turning away refugee boats on the high seas. And, most importantly, the government has demonized and given inhuman treatment to refugees in order to sustain its political power. This is inhuman conduct committed on a grand scale by the Australian government, and it is much worse than what any human smugglers have done. I ask: don't you find that disturbing ? I certainly find the Australian government's conduct inhuman, despicable and disturbing. ( http://www.netipr.org/saorg/NetIPR_20020806_OpeningStatement.txt )"

I suppose, the deluded warrior Don Quixote is a lot luckier than us because, his enemies are only imaginary. Our's are real. In Australia, racism is on the rise and the opportunistic Nazism is alive and well. The Government pays people smugglers to save its own skin. And as the Fazel Chegeni's case has demonstrated ( http://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2015/dec/21/how-australias-immigration-detention-regime-crushed-fazel-chegeni ), there is callous disregard for those who are defenseless. In Australia, you don't expect the Trade Unions, or besieged HREOC, comes fighting for refugees. People like you and me must stand up and fight. Lets have a good Xmas of Rage. -- In solidarity, U Ne Oo, Sydney.
